Earthquake repair and rebuild to drive New Zealand’s building activity to a record high

The pace of earthquake repair and rebuild in Christchurch is finally gathering momentum, with related building activity expected to build up to a peak by 2015, according to leading industry analyst and economic forecaster, BIS Shrapnel.

According to the company’s Building and Construction in New Zealand 2013-2018 report, while this level of activity will gradually taper off over the remainder of the decade, building and construction activity will remain relatively high.
