Australia’s Eastern Seaboard Hotel Market Property Prospects 2011-2020

This is BIS Shrapnel’s fourth report on the three, four and five star accommodation sector—comprising hotels, serviced apartments and motels—in the Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane Tourism Regions.

The 2011 study examines the outlook for demand for hotel accommodation—both domestic and international—focussing on holiday and business visitors which are the key sources of demand for 4 & 5 star accommodation. Matching demand with our forecasts for supply enables us to forecast occupancy rates and in turn room rates and RevPAR for 4 & 5 star accommodation. The report also considers investment and development issues and forecasts investment returns to 2020. Particular attention is given to the likely duration of the upswing.

The report is of relevance to hotel owners, operators, developers and planners who need to understand the risk factors that set hotels apart from other property classes.
