Installation of Rainwater Tanks and Grey Water Systems by Australian Households, 2006/07

In the current climate, water issues are an important topic for Australia. Across the eastern states in particular, fresh water levels are diminishing and governments are putting in place state and national plans to provide continued clean water for households and the country. But what are individual households doing?

This report, Installation of Rainwater Tanks and Grey Water Systems by Australian Households, 2006/07, displays the incidence of rainwater tank and grey water system installation. Our research shows just how many households, across key demographic categories, have undertaken to provide water for themselves rather than relying solely on the main supply. Also shown, are the number of households who intend to install one or both of these water saving devices in the coming year. While it is unlikely these intended installations will proceed, this exhibits the importance Australian households place on water saving.
