Bernie manages BIS Shrapnel's Forestry Program. He has been analysing the forest and forest products industry for the past 15 years, combining forecasting techniques with strategic marketing research and knowledge of economics, the forest industry, end-use sectors such as furniture and building construction, and a global knowledge of the industry. He has travelled throughout Asia, North and South America and Europe undertaking private strategic and multi-client studies, and has a worldwide network of contracts in the forest industry.

He has developed, managed and produced a number of Australasian and internationally focused multi-client studies on a wide range of countries and forest products. These include reports on China and Australia, benchmarking reports, reports on transport and distribution logistics, and product reports on sawn timber, wood panels (MDF, particleboard, plywood) and engineered wood products (LVL, I-joists, glulam). These publications feature regularly in the strategic planning process of the established Australasian and global players in the industry.

He has also provided strategic advice and research reports on these and other forest products to government and private organisations in Australasia and internationally.
